May 24, 2017

Gateway Research Organization (GRO) has hired an On-Farm Energy Outreach Officer. The primary role of the Outreach Officer is to educate producers on energy management and develop extension materials as it applies to agri-businesses across Alberta.

Kale Scarff grew up on a mixed farm outside of Oyen, Alberta, where her family produces wheat and commercial angus cattle. After high school, Kale went to Lethbridge College and got a diploma in Environmental Assessment and Restoration. After receiving her diploma, she took a break from school and spent a year and half doing volunteer missionary work in West Virginia. When she returned home, she transferred her college credits to the U of A and finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental and Conservation Science, majoring in Rangeland and Wildlife Management. Kale has worked four summers in Oyen at Chinook Applied Research Association (CARA), and one summer at Dinosaur Provincial Park, located outside of Brooks, Alberta. She loves agriculture, working with people, and learning new things. Kale is looking forward to connecting all of those things in her position at GRO.
