Environmental Farm Plan Program Coordinator
The Agricultural Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA - www.areca.ab.ca) is a small, dynamic organization that offers you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills. ARECA delivers the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP - www.AlbertaEFP.com) on behalf of the department of Agriculture and Forestry. EFP is a voluntary, whole farm, self-assessment tool that helps producers identify their environmental risks and develop plans to mitigate identified risks. The Alberta EFP Program bears responsibility for the delivery of the EFP Program throughout the Province via delivery agents.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is a 1+ year, temporary position working from home, covering a maternity leave. The successful candidate must be based in Alberta and provide their own space to work. Laptop is provided and phone use can be expensed. The position requires a high degree of organizational skills coupled with the ability to adjust to changing priorities as needed.
Under the supervision of the Environmental Farm Plan Director, you will use your leadership, expert project management, and advanced computer/web skills to:
Manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the Alberta Environmental Farm Plan Program
Assist building projects and subsequently managing projects, as needed
Assist with continued refinement and implementation of enhancements to the EFP online tool
Provide technical assistance to workbook users
Assist with EFP communications and maintaining the AlbertaEFP.com website and WebBook
Creating, maintaining, and implementing training program and materials for EFP technicians
Hosting and assisting in hosting online and in-person webinars and workshops for producers and technicians
Participate in developing and implementing a plan to increase uptake of EFPs
Participate in developing and implementing a plan for creating renewal capacity for online workbooks
Facilitate and chair EFP Operations Committee
Participate and engage in various committees
Assist in the addition or modification of workbook content
Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies
Provide input on strategic planning, operational direction, and project development
Complete reports on an as needed basis
Some travel will be required as part of this position and candidate must have:
Ability to travel as needed at the discretion of the EFP Director.
Travel related expenses reimbursed in accordance to the Travel Expense Policy
The ideal candidate will hold a degree (preferred) or diploma in agriculture or agro-ecology – or can demonstrate an equivalency based on education and experience.

Written and verbal communication skills in diverse environments
Extremely self-motivated and self-driven
Detail-oriented and organized with an ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively

Self-sufficient in a technical environment
Proficient in use of Microsoft Suite and similar software
Superior problem solving skills
Agri-environmental experience is a strong asset
Eligibility for membership in the Alberta Institute of Agrologists either as a P.Ag. or RT.Ag designation is preferred
$50,000-$70,000 per annum. Reviewable after probation expires.
